]]> There is a list of animals that should probably not be kept as pets, there are the obvious ones, then there are mantis shrimp. Despite it’s name the mantis shrimp isn’t technically a shrimp but actually a stomatopods, a distant relative to crustaceans. Now generally it shouldn’t be kept as pets due to the mantis shrimp packing the strongest punch of all animals, a punch that can go to speeds up to 23 meter per second(almost 85 km/h) and with a force of nearly 100 times its body mass

Oddly enough you’d think that ants have the most species, after all ants are on 6 out of 7 continents. But the crown goes to Beetles, with 1 million species they make 40% of insect species and 25% of all animal species. Now 1 million different species may not sound like much, but there are 7.8 million different animal species in total.

]]> If you are thinking of the world’s strongest animal, the image of an elephant probably comes to mind. But as it turns out the world’s strongest animal is the horned dung beetle, which can pull around 1114 times it’s own weight, that’s the equivalent of humans carrying a small plane. So it makes sense to crown the dung beetle as the strongest insect in the world and crown it as the strongest animal on Earth compared to its body size and weight.

]]> When you think about the shape of the Earth, you are probably imagining something similar to a perfect round ball, but in actual fact the Earth’s shape is closer to an ellipsoid than a sphere. It is mainly because as the Earth spins, gravity is pressing the Earth, similar to someone sitting on a soccer ball. Thus gravity causes that the Earth starts flatten at the poles and bulges at the equator making it an ellipsoid.
